The increased manoeuvrability offered by Blackwater’s “positive steering” has revolutionised milk collection with the possibility to transport large volumes on narrow farm roads. Milk collection is easier, more efficient and cost effective where up to 28,500L of milk can be transported directly from the farm to the factory.

Through increased operating efficiency and lower maintenance costs our customer’s see a fast returns on their investment. According to the experience of a major dairy in Ireland the typical cost of maintenance of a positive mechanical steer axle amounts to €1400 annually including parts and labour for ex farm work (or €700 per year on national roads). The average mileage of a turntable is 120,000km ex farm (or 240,000km on national roads), based on the experience of a major customer using our steering system for milk collection. Weighed against an estimated time saving of 1 hour per day of driver time you can expect to see a fast return on your investment.

Another customer operating 20,000L and 25000L positive rear steering tanks is achieving 48,000L a day with the 20,000L tank in comparison to 60,000L a day with a 25,000L tank – increasing the dairies efficiency factor by an additional 20%

Increased carrying capacity also leads to (I) savings in fuel consumption, (II) savings in driver’s time (estimated 1 hour per day) and (III) eliminates the security and quality loss concerns associated with rigid tankers.
